I was watching the recorded webcast of Jeff Alexander's Sydney presentation on Active Directory monitoring using MOM 2005, which he presented at the recent Security Summit roadshow.

I think there was an unanswered question around putting computers into maintenance mode programmatically, or on a schedule.

This can be achieved using the MOMInfo.exe tool from the MOM 2005 Resource Kit. If you run the following command, it will put the named server into maintenance mode for the timeout value in seconds. This can then be scheduled either within MOM or using Windows Task Scheduler

MOMInfo.exe /maintenancemode:timeout /server:servername

More detailed information on the available options can be found in the MOMInfo_Readme.doc file that accompanies the MOMInfo.exe tool
